Melanotaenia spec. „Iwur“

Es ist ein langer Weg nach Iwur. Zunächst einmal muss man nach Oksibil, einer kleinen Stadt in den Bergen West Papuas, kommen. Oksibil liegt auf rd. 1350 m üNN. Dort gibt es keine Regenbogenfische. Mit einem Allradfahrzeug geht es dann fast 100 km nach Süden, immer bergab. Nicht weit von dem Dorf/Bezirk Iwur fanden wir dann diesen Regenbogenfisch in einem kleinen Bach. Die Haltung dieser schönen Art hat sich als vollkommen problemlos erwiesen. Erwachsene Männchen schillern blau und zeigen orange-rote Flossen.

It´s a long way to Iwur. First you need to travel to Oksibil, a small town in the mountains of West Papua. Oksibil is located at approx. 1350 m asl. No rainbowfishes are living there. With a 4x4 vehicle trip trip continues about 100 km downhill. Near the village/district of Iwur we found this beautiful rainbowfish in a small creek. The keeping of this species proved to be easy. Adult males show an iridescent blue body color and orange-red fins.
