Microsorum „Karin Graf“

Dieser Javafarn ist vor vielen Jahren in meiner Anlage entstanden. Es handelt sich wohl um eine Mutation aus Microsorum „Angustifolius“, jedenfalls habe ich damals die Jungpflanze in einer Kolonie dieser Sorte gefunden und separat aufgezogen. Ich habe diese Sorte nun über etwa 10 Jahre im Aquarium beobachtet und festgestellt, dass die Eigenschaften stabil sind. Diese mittelgroße Sorte macht sehr schöne, trichterförmige Rosetten aus schmalen, am Rand gewellten Blättern von 10 – 15 cm Länge. Sie lässt sich sehr gut auf Wurzeln oder Lavasteinen kultivieren. Sie ist jedoch deutlich kleiner als „Narrow Leaf“ syn. „Sword Leaf“ und die Blätter von „Karin Graf“ sind deutlich heller. Das zweite Bild zeigt einen Vergleich der drei Sorten. Der Lichtbedarf ist gering, wie bei allen Javafarnen. Dieser Javafarn vermehrt sich sehr gut vegetativ über Tochterpflanzen, die an den Blättern entstehen. Ich habe diese Sorte nach meiner Frau Karin benannt, die meine aquaristische Leidenschaft schon seit vielen Jahren unterstützt.

This Javafern appeared many years ago in one of my aquariums. Apparently it is a mutation of Microsorum “Angustifolius”, because I found the first plant in a colony of this variety and cultivated it separately. I watched this variety in the aquarium for about 10 years now and have found the characteristics to be stable. It is a medium-sized variety that produces nice bell-shaped rosettes consisting of narrow, slightly undulated leaves of 10 – 15 cm lenght. This variety is smaller than “Sword Leaf” syn. “Narrow Leaf” and the leaves are lighter green. The second picture shows a comparison of the three varieties. Cultivation works well on wood or lava stones. It doesn´t need much light, like all java ferns. Propagation works well vegetatively via daughter plants emerging from the leaves. I named this variety for my wife Karin, who is supporting my aquaristic passion for many years.
